Stylish Saturday

As you may know, I love parties and have been to a fair few of them in my time. These days, though, being an almost-10-year-old girl and all, I don't like to party quite so hard as I used to. Come 9 o'clock, I'm ready to call it a night. Someone snapped these photos of me at Thanksgiving last year, when we went over to Babushka and Toma's house. When the peoples were still in the kitchen whooping it up, I snuck up on the couch (couches are out of bounds to 4-leggeds in that house). When I was spotted, they said I looked so comfy I could stay there. The hat wasn't my idea, but I wasn't about to complain.

So last night, I was at another party, of sorts. This was a bit of a different affair. It was something to do with some of my (and my mum's) favorite people, Donna Eden and David Feinstein. A lot of people gathered in the kind of place I'm not usually allowed to go to. But this time, because my mum was organizing it, I was allowed in. I got really excited, like when I was a puppy, and wanted to greet all the people. There was a human puppy there too, who was Donna and David's grandson and I got to hang out with him a lot in the place where the people came in and out.

One of the best parts of the evening was seeing my old friend Pépé right outside the windows. I so wanted to go and give him a piece of my mind about that incident during the summer, but they wouldn't let me at him. He knew I was on to him, and kept coming up to the glass and taunting me. I'm pooped now from all the exertions and greeting all the peoples. So even though I'm not wearing the hat, this is pretty much what I look like today.

Rain, rain go away!

We had a very wet and not very pleasant time here last week. That wet stuff just wouldn't stop falling out of the sky. I tried very hard to get Mum to make it stop, because she knows how much I dislike going for walks when it's like that.

The snow wasn't so bad, but everything was just so wet. Monty's staying with us, which means we can get through a lot of towels in a day. Mum makes us lie down on our towels in the hallway as soon as we come home from a walk, and we wait patiently until she wraps another towel around each of us. That's the part we like! We're supposed to stay on the towels until we're dry, but sometimes that's hard to do when dinner or breakfast is waiting in the kitchen. Mum was very pleased with us when she took this photo. We both got tired of waiting and started falling asleep. Monty rested his head on my back and went to sleep, which I usually don't like, but I was so tired, I just didn't care.

Thankfully, the rain stopped today, and we've been down to the magic creek. For some reason, this creek is never there when you want it to be, on the long, hot dry days in the middle of summer. But any time there's tons of rains, suddenly it's right there, stopping me from running over to the galloping trails.

It was great to be out when it wasn't raining. Getting wet and muddy in the creek is a whole different story.

I don't even mind getting in the water when it's covered in ice. But rain, you can keep it.
